Why You Should Join TKE
Tuesday, 25 July 2006

Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity challenges you to make the most of your life. Becoming a brother, gaining confidence through experience, developing as an individual and a leader, and making the most out of opportunities -- these are the hallmarks of being a Teke.

The strength of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity is our Brotherhood. TKE men are committed to the principles of scholarship, community service, leadership, friendship, and athletics. As a Teke, you will pursue a good education, volunteer in your community, participate in social activities with sororities on campus, serve in a leadership role in your school and chapter, challenge other fraternities to athletic contests--and more.

"The Noble Eight-Fold Path of Tekedom," as written by fraternity founders Clarence A. Mayer and James C. McNutt, outlines the following principles:

A Teke will always be recognized as:

  1. A man of sterling character.
  2. A man whose honesty is never questioned.
  3. A man who never violates the integrity of his inner self.
  4. A man who is first, last, and always a true citizen.
  5. A man who is always glad to support all TKE activities.
  6. A man who will always extend a helping hand to a fellow Teke.
  7. A man who is always a gentleman, kindly and considerate of others.
A man who never forgets that Tau Kappa Epsilon is a Fraternity for Life.

Among our members are astronauts, professional athletes, entertainment personalities, and leaders in government, business, education, science, and the arts. Some of the most well known include President Ronald Reagan; entertainers Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, Merv Griffin, Lawrence Welk, and Danny Thomas; businessmen Conrad Hilton, Charles Walgreen, Bob Nardelli, and Howard Schultz; and Hall of Fame NFL quarterbacks Terry Bradshaw and Phil Simms.

Choosing Tau Kappa Epsilon means you accept the challenge to pursue your own success. It means you want to make the most of yourself and realize your potential. It means you are ready to see where your future will lead you. And it means you will always will have the support of your TKE brothers along the way.

TKE MEANS SCHOLARSHIP

TKE promotes scholarship and considers it vital to a Teke's development. Thus, as a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity, one of your main goals is to get a good education. TKE's scholarship aid program can help by increasing your possibilities even further.

Tekes are given the opportunity to work in a variety of community and human relations positions. Working side by side with your brothers and others from the community exposes you to different viewpoints and perspectives, helping you to shape your own. The skills you bring to the task, and those you learn and take with you, are the kind that broaden the mind to all types of people and situations in our society.

By serving as a chapter officer, committee member, chairman, or in various other positions, you develop the necessary skills for leadership. These tasks also help you to build confidence in your own abilities and talents. This "on-the-job" training will serve you well in the years to come.

Your fraternity brothers will become some of the closest, most personal friends you will have in your lifetime. As they move around, Tekes seem to seek each other out--enabling you to establish new friends in a new location more quickly. And since everyone has connections of some kind, this network of friends can be very helpful personally and professionally.
