IDEALISM IN ACTION The mythological ideal or patron of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity - Apollo - is one of the most important and many-sided of Olympian divinities. The Grecian god of prophecy, of philosophy, of art, music and culture, of the tender shepherd, of light, of virile and active youth, representing the ideals toward which all Tekes must constantly be striving. Typifying the finest development of manhood, The Apollo Project, Tau Kappa Epsilon's member development experience, represents a bold new initiative to provide focus, and an enhanced level of understanding, about the vision and mission of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. The Apollo Project impacts nearly every educational and programmatic offering of the Fraternity; creating a deeper understanding of the concept of "Fraternity for Life," promoting an appropriate model of conduct for our membership; and providing for expanded knowledge and awareness of the responsibilities and benefits of membership in Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. CANDIDATE EDUCATION Your introduction to Tau Kappa Epsion Fraternity will begin shortly after you accept a bid to join our Fraternity. You will begin The Apollo Project Candidate Education Program, which is an eight-week period to provide you with as comprehensive overview of the history, traditions, practices, and beliefs of our great Fraternity. Emphasis will also be placed on the Greek system, our chapter, and learning the skills necessary to be a successful student. During the Candidate Education Program, you will be expected to establish a working knowledge of how our Fraternity operates, on both the International and local chapter level. You will also have the opportunity to take part in chapter activities, social events, intramural sports, philanthropy events, and much more. The candidate period will conclude with your formal initiation into our Fraternity. Initiation into Tau Kappa Epsilon represents a first step in the beginning, not the end, of The TKE Experience. ORDER OF THE FOUNDERS At the completion of your first year as a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon, you will be eligible for induction into the first Level of Fraternal Achievement on the "Pathway to Apollo," The Order of the Founders. Ascension to this level is achieved by demonstrating an understanding of fraternity knowledge expected of all TKE members, involvement in campus, community, and chapter activities, and maintaining the level of standards established by our chapter. As you begin this new phase in The TKE Experience many opportunities will present themselves to you. You may begin taking on larger leadership responsibilities within the chapter or perhaps using the skills you've learned in TKE with other campus organizations. Plus, you'll be getting hands on experience about how the chapter operates, and what your role in the Fraternity can be. Province Educational Programs, Regional Leadership Conferences, the biennial Conclave of the Fraternity, and the highly selective TKE Leadership Academy are just a few of the many opportunities available to you through Tau Kappa Epsilon. ORDER OF THE KNIGHTS OF CLASSIC LORE This Level of Fraternal Achievement recognizes those members who have maintained the high expectations of our Brotherhood through the end of their junior year in college. To be eligible for induction, members must have maintained the level of standards established by our chapter, served as a Big Brother, contributed to the growth of the chapter, served as a chapter or campus leader, and have been mentors for younger members of the chapter. These members play a special role in the chapter because they been instrumental to the success of the chapter. The leadership skills and training that they have developed will prove useful to them as they prepare for life in the "real world." They are armed with experiences that few others can match, and are living proof that TKE builds successful men. ORDER OF THE FRATERNITY FOR LIFE The Order of the Fraternity for Life recognizes one of the most significant milestones in The TKE Experience...graduation. It is the goal of our chapter that every Frater will attain this Fraternal Level of Achievement. It also denotes the importance of alumni involvement and serves as a recognition ceremony for those Fraters moving into Tau Kappa Epsilon's distinguished alumni ranks. But, this is not the final step in The TKE Experience. TKE is "The Fraternity for Life," and we maintain a loyalty to the values, beliefs, and principles of our Fraternity for the rest of our lives. As the undergraduate days of a Frater end the years of alumni support continue. ALUMNI VOLUNTERS AND ALUMNI ASSOCIATIONS Maintaining a higher level of involvement after college provides the opportunity for your to participate as a local, province, or International Fraternity volunteer. Literally hundreds of positions are available as Chapter Advisors, Board of Advisors members, or International Fraternity representatives and committee members. In addition to volunteer work, TKE's many local and area alumni associations serve an important role in maintaining contact with your chapter or fellow area Fraters. Alumni Associations sponsor or assist with a wide array of events, including chapter homecomings, golf tournaments, Red Carnation Balls, awards ceremonies, Founders Day events, seminars, luncheons, dinners, and more! Consider the fact that you will spend most of your life as a Teke being an alumni member. There is a world of opportunity waiting for you in TKE...and not just while you are in college. |
